Autumn 2011
Saturday Mornings
9.30am - 12.30 pm

A twelve -session independent workshop course to be held in the Ceramics Department of Bristol School of Art, Queen’s Road, Clifton.

A practical workshop course for individual makers - initiating and developing a course of study or research.

Conferring with the tutor (to agree projects’ viability) and working alongside fellow makers in the group - are ways in which discussion and debate can support and feed into ideas.

Presentations, demonstrations, specialist workshops and discussion activities may feature during some sessions.

The aim is to underpin and facilitate independent practice and use of ceramics language and media.

Beginners Welcome

Alongside continuation study I will be offering an introduction to ceramics for new starters - presenting through projects: materials, techniques & processes and discussions about ideas.

There are 15 places to be sold on a first come/first served basis.

Saturday 17th September -
Saturday 10th December

Half-Term Break: 29th October

  Course fee: £216

This does not include materials and firings costs which are paid for as you weigh out your finished ceramic pieces to take home @ £2.00 per kilogram.

Making pottery & ceramics using "free" (naturally sourced) and waste materials.

This 5-part practical group workshop course sets exciting and challenging objectives: to make ceramic clay, using it to create works on site, and to be fired to 1000 C. in D.I.Y. "single-use" kilns.

Whilst "take-home" produce is not guaranteed, the experience should prove to be fascinating, informative and fun if digging and general muddiness is your style!

Newcomers to Clay-work Welcome.

St.Werburghs City Farm/Boiling Wells lane site is a wild garden that preserves a unique interface between country and city, where the urban landscape runs out into allotments, scrub and farmland. There are two simple buildings to work in - in addition to a kitchen "shelter" and wood fired bread oven - but (be warned) there is no electricity!   St. Werburghs City Farm
